We founded Rosie's Remedies in memory of our beautiful miniature poodle Rosie. Rosie was a vibrant and energetic girl right from the start, she could jump a 3 foot fence even though she was just 8 inches tall. She was a true athlete. Unfortunately we used over the counter Flea & Tick so called 'medicine' on her and that's when the problems began.

In her prime Rosie was a true athlete, and with her sister Bunny, they frequently walked from 86th Street all the way down to Wall St and back, sometimes several times a week. They loved Central Park at anytime of year, but in the summer it often got a little too hot, so when we walked them past the Museum of Art they loved to jump into the ponds in front of the museum! We, like them, never approved of the stupid leash laws in Central Park so we walked them off leash (only got a ticket once I think) and they would run and run and run, chasing anything that moved, but especially the squirrels. Rosie was a very gentle and sensitive girl, Bunny not so much.

Rosie got Fleas from Central Park and we started using a lot of Flea & Tick 'Medication' as recommended by our vet. The problems started soon after. She began to bump into things, she began to get disorientated. We put it down to heat and exhaustion. Over the coming months things got worse. One day we were watching TV and Rosie started running into things head on, at full speed, she was acting in a wild manner. We took her to the vet who ran a series of tests, then back came the diagnosis, Brain Cancer. Shortly after that Rosie died. She was so young. It was so painful for us to see her fail, but that pales in comparison as to what she must have gone through.

That was 7 years ago. Early in 2009 we discovered just how dangerous these Flea & Tick 'medicines' actually can be. When we started doing research on the ingredients of these products we were horrified. A lot of them contain insecticides and pesticides, both of which can be highly toxic to pets and people. We also found out that Brain Cancer is a potential side effect of many of these Flea & Tick 'medicines'.

It was at that point we decided the best way to Honor Rosie's Memory was to start offering Natural Alternatives for Flea & Tick Medications, so we founded Rosie's Remedies.
